What is linoleum

The material has taken root in various fields. The consumer is only engaged in the choice of material. Currently, this floor covering has no alternative in terms of practicality, durability and price range.

Linoleum is a thick film, a fabric that is impregnated with a mixture of cork powder with oil on a linen base for flooring and wall upholstery. Also, the material is identified with polymer roll material for flooring.

According to the norms of the Old World, this is a coating where only natural oils and resins are used as a connecting element. However, in our country, this concept also means elastic coatings using synthetic resins.

Attention! The types of this material vary depending on its composition.

Today, types of such coatings are divided by the composition of binders into several large classes:

  1. Natural, based on only natural ingredients - linseed oil, pine resin, oak bark flour, limestone powder, natural colorants. Such linoleum happens with or without jute base. This type does not modify brightness, is resistant to acid-base effects, does not fade.
  2. PVC linoleum, which has several varieties. Its base can be non-woven, fabric or foamed. Options without a base, with one and several layers are possible. The nuance of such linoleum is considered to be an indispensable account of shrinkage.
  3. Colloxin, which does not imply a basis, is moisture-resistant and elastic. The main disadvantage is a high degree of flammability.
  4. The gliphthal version has a woven base and perfectly insulate heat and noise. After a while, the canvas can be reduced in length and extended in width, which will certainly affect the installation process.
  5. Rubber cover. Its lower layer is crushed wood, and the upper layer is synthetic rubber and the corresponding filler. It is elastic and moisture resistant, but it is unsuitable for homes, since it is possible to release substances harmful to people.
  6. Marmoleum refers to the modern know-how of resin, cork and jute flooring. Despite the relative fragility of the product at the edges, heavy weight, hardening over time, the material is hygienic, fireproof, anti-static, with good heat-insulating characteristics, economic value.

The first two options are most common. The first - for environmental friendliness and safety, the second - for a significantly lower cost.

Important! A choice of material with a foam base is recommended. It will serve for a long time, it will not lose strength. And you won’t refuse practicality.

If the impression is that the room is too wide, you should measure the floor along the length in at least 6 places. If the impression didn’t lead, then it’s time to get the maximum wide version of linoleum with a five-meter width.

Variations of the described coating are very numerous, and the scope of its use is directly related to the type of its main component and structural features.

Since producing heterogeneous PVC coatings with multilayer, the authors vary the product depending on the purpose of use. Then the application is in ordinary apartments, and in commercial structures. Homogeneous PVC coatings resist the mechanical load not bad, therefore they are optimal for office premises and public buildings. The homogeneity of the natural variant allows its use in sectors similar to homogeneous coatings. This option is considered special due to lack of sales.

The described coating is a modern tribute to fashion, and its use is sustainable in all areas of our lives. This is due to varieties of coverage: household option - for residential premises, semi-commercial - for offices, commercial - for places of special stress, such as large sports complexes, train stations, halls.

The use of new technologies and materials shows linoleum in the best consumer light for customers. Preference is given to:

  1. Easy installation, possible without the involvement of specialists. The main thing is the correct selection and execution of styling.
  2. Relatively low price in comparison with parquet and laminate. A variety of palettes and textures will allow you to find exactly your option.
  3. Easy care, with easy transfer of wet cleaning, damp and detergent products. The initial appearance is retained for a long time.
  4. Resistance to temperature changes, any level of humidity and mechanical abrasion.
  5. Almost instant use for its intended purpose after laying. Linoleum will last for more than a decade at least.

It is advisable for customers not to forget about the external presentability, the preservation of the original colors, decorativeness. Modern textures will bring harmony and originality to the house.
